Wilmette IL is a wonderful Chicago North Shore suburb located 16 away from downtown Chicago and is neighbors with Evanston IL to the south. Wilmette has a great lakefront part in Gilson Park Beach. There is a sailing beach and is almost 60 acres of park and beach. The Fourth Of July celebration and parade at Gilson is one of the most popular in Chicago land and well attended. Also Wilmette is the home of the beautiful Baha'i Temple where all people are welcome to view its magnificent grounds.
Click Coldwell Banker Wilmette and you can take a look at our new site.
Recently the downtown of Wilmette has become host to many great new restaurants and fine shops. Also located in the downtown area is the Metra train station and there is the "EL" station at 4th and Linden. You can get to downtown Chicago and all points in between and leave you car at home.
Wilmette is part of the New Trier school district and has top rated elementary and middle schools as well as access to New Trier High School where kids will get an excellent path to college prep if that is the choice you are interested in as well as many other great educational paths.
People describe Wilmette IL as a bedroom community that has tree lined, cobble stone streets. The streets are still brick and gives a great feel. You can find a wide variety of homes in Wilmette IL ranging from late 1800's Victorians to 1920s brick Colonials and even contemporary homes with all the ammonites you would ever want
